Ancestral Healing – Forgiveness

I have been working with Kari Grady Grossman at Ancestral Streams to heal my ancestral lineages. We began with healing the male ancestors from my paternal line, opening the path for understanding, release, and love.

During the process of doing this work, my great-grandfather reached out across time, seeking forgiveness for the actions and harms he felt he had caused my grandparent and father. After we completed the ritual in our healing session, he requested a poem of forgiveness to be written and placed at the ancestor altar I had prepared in my home.

As I sat on my balcony, contemplating what words could honor his request. the poem below came through me. A wave of sadness flowed through me as I recited the poem. It’s a sacred release for both myself and my lineage. The emotions were released through me, transformed and radiated into the entire family line.

I also set the intention to sing a soul medicine song for my great-grandparent – so he might fully receive the healing, feel at peace, and release the burden of pain and remorse he had carried for so long. I feel deeply grateful for the privilege of holding this space, of doing this work for my ancestors.

Poem of Forgiveness Dedicated to My Great-Grandparent
Like a beautiful flower blossoming in Spring time 
Our heart – the center of our being 
Our spiritual essence 
Within it lives the beauty of unconditional love 

Through our heart we learn 
To heal
To forgive 
To let go
The shadows once kept us bound to our past 

May you return to this spiritual essence 
To the gentleness of your heart 
Let old hurt and remorse fall away
And walk onto the path of
Light, peace and love

In letting go
In forgiving
In accepting
You are set free 
Unburdened by conditions of the past

This blessing flows not only for yourself
But also for our lineage 
Rewriting the story 
With love
With light
With empathy 
With gratitude 

Within the essence of our heart
Light radiates outward
Touching every being in this world and beyond 
Transcending the boundary of love
Inviting happiness, joy and beauty into all things  

May we align with this sacred origin of our universe 
Remember where we come from
And where we all return
